Will Someone (With Money) Give Ashley A Hand?

Ashley is the 54th-richest man in the United Kingdom, with a fortune of about £1.4bn, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

And he says it is impossible to make a profit out of Newcastle ... although previous owner Freddy Shepherd walked away more richer by the tune of £20m (allegedly).

He insists the club is not for sale, with a "but" in there somewhere, suggesting he would be willing to sell shares to other "rich" people with an interest in football who would like to help him out.

All in all, he seems to be suggesting he is a little 'out of pocket', needs a financial boost from somewhere, and ohh ... he has NEVER supported Tottenham Hotspur.

Good on yer Mike, nice to see you talking for once.

Mike Ashley: "Newcastle is not something you make a profit on, you have to enjoy and love it.

"If we had some multi-billionaire that wanted a stake in Newcastle, it will help, but sell the club? It's not the same answer.

"The QPR model looks very interesting (Queens Park Rangers is owned by three of the richest men in England - Flavio Briatore, Bernie Ecclestone and Lakshmi Mittal). It's something that Newcastle needs to look at. It's got to be able to compete."

As for being a Spurs fan?

Ashley: "It's not true.

"I absolutely hate Spurs and always have done."
