Where Newcastle's Potential New Owners Rank Among the Premier League's Richest

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman would be the fourth richest owner in the Premier League should the proposed takeover of Newcastle go ahead.

The Magpies are edging ever closer to confirming new ownership, with it emerging on Tuesday that official documents had been filed with Companies House, showing the legal framework is being put in place with Amanda Staveley’s PCP Capital Partners. 

Staveley is ​leading the £300m deal which is being backed by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund and the Reuben brothers.

Bin Salman is said to have a net worth of £7b, as reported by ​the Daily Star, which would put him fourth in the list of richest ​Premier League owners. Manchester City unsurprisingly sit at the top and are believed to be worth around £9.2b.

Chelsea's Roman Abramovich comes in at second - though the Star's report also puts his net worth at £9.2b, so who knows what's real anymore - while Arsenal's Stan Kroenke comes in at third with Bin Salman fourth. 

Fosun International, who own Wolverhampton Wanderers, rank fifth, meaning neither Liverpool or Manchester United crack the top five in England's top flight. 

90min ​previously revealed earlier in April that takeover efforts were being taken more seriously by Newcastle when PIF returned to the negotiating table. 

Stavely previously led a failed bid back in 2017 and was also involved in helping Sheikh Mansour purchase Manchester City in 2008, reportedly receiving a £30m fee for her involvement. 

Thankfully for ​Newcastle fans, Ashley's reign of terror seems to be coming to an end. Funds were made available to manager Steve Bruce in last summer's transfer window, with players like Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin signed for considerable sums, but supporters have often cited a lack of ambition from the Sports Direct mogul.
