Was Keegan Right About Reserve Team Football?

The kick-off for Newcastle United's Reserve team trip to Fulham has been brought forward .., and that too will be played behind closed doors.

Willie Donachie's side travel to the Cottagers' Motspur Park training ground on Tuesday, 3rd April for their final away fixture of the season in the Barclays Premier Reserve League.

The match had been scheduled to start at 7pm.

But, in order to assist with the Magpies' travel plans, the start has now been brought forward to 2pm.

I'm sure we can all remember Kevin Keegan took major flak for taking the Newcastle reserve team out of the league back in the 1990's saying: "I can't see the point in it.

"Does it really help the club? Star players don't like playing in the reserves, and it is not like the days of the 1970s when a decent crowd would turn out.

"I'd rather pick games for the reserves to play rather than be tied to a league."
