Viana unhappy on Tyneside

Italy bound?
The midfielder is reportedly unhappy at constantly sitting on the bench watching Gary Speed and Kieron Dyer in the centre of midfield, even though it has not harmed his international prospects.

The following comments have been reported in several publications across Europe, but you might want to remember the problems we've had with Laurent Robert being misquoted in the continental press.

"I'm not happy because I would like to play a bit more. I'm not used to sitting on the bench for such a long time.

"I'm aware that football can be like that and then everyone here is so kind to me. If only I got a chance to play.

"Italy would be very good for me. It would really be a dream."

Not particularly promising, if they actually are Viana's words.
