Sevilla stayed on course to retain the UEFA Cup after a 2-0 away-leg, last-32 win over Steaua Bucharest on Thursday. Goals in each half from Christian Poulsen and Frederic Kanoute gave the Spaniards a comfortable win after dominating the tie from start to finish. On 41 minutes, Steaua failed to clear Daniel Alves' free-kick and Denmark midfielder Poulsen was on hand to smash home the rebound. Former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham forward Kanoute came on in the 68th minute and scored six minutes later, firing home from the spot after Alexander Kerzakhov had been fouled by Dorin Goian.
