The Newcastle United training ground was shut down today due to the eye infection sweeping through the team. It started last week with Shay Given picking up the highly contagious virus. It has since spread to Andy O'Brien, Lee Bowyer and Tony Caig. As a result of this the club have decided to disinfect the dressing rooms.

The club have stated that the players training programme won't be affected, which possibly means training at St. James' Park.
