After guiding Kusen to the Champions League final last season he is in danger of seeing his side slip out of top flight football and has been seeking assurances about his future.
General manager Reiner Calmund refused to give Toppmoller a guarantee that he would keep his job until the rest of the season, saying: "Gratitude for good results in the past is no reason not to address the situation. With his compensation he would have a smooth landing."
Unfortunately though the two agreed that fielding an under strength team in the Champions League in order to avoid injuries was not the right thing to do.
Calmund added: "It does not mean we will play with our youth team and the amateurs on Tuesday in the Champions League against Newcastle United."
