The 35-year-old will end his career in May, and although no date has been confirmed, only an appearance in the FA Cup final will stop it being days after the last Premiership game of the season against Chelsea on May 7.
Shearer will have completed 10 years at the club, having signed for a then world record transfer fee of £15m in the summer of 1996.
