Newcastle United’s promotion charge remains a crucial TV draw - with Preston North End’s visit to St James’ Park the latest game to be selected for live broadcast.
The table-topping Magpies will host North End at St James’ Park on Monday, April 24 (7.45pm kick-off) live on Sky Sports, with the game shifted back 48 hours.
With Newcastle travelling to Ipswich Town on Easter Monday (April 17), Rafa Benitez ’s men will now have a full week’s rest before they welcome Preston to Tyneside.
And it seems that Sky Sports hope that the promotion race is going to last into the final fortnight of the season, given that second-placed Brighton and Hove Albion’s trip to Norwich City has now been moved to the Friday-night TV slot for that weekend.
Huddersfield Town, meanwhile, play their game in hand just 24 hours after Newcastle’s rearranged clash with Preston - with the Terriers travelling to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday, April 25.
Three of Newcastle’s next seven matches will now be TV, with next month’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday and home clash with Leeds United both chosen by Sky Sports for live broadcast.
