Toon Fans Put Enrique On The Spot

Liverpool Football Club organised the chat with former Enrique on the social network website Twitter, inviting fans to tweet their questions and mark them "#askenrique"

They then posed the best questions to the player.

But humorous Newcastle supporters jumped on board and quickly hijacked the interview with a deluge of fake questions mocking Enrique for his switch to the Reds.

I must admit, our voting poll on NU-MAD was once hijacked by Celtic fans, and got the editor on this website on Scottish radio.

Craig Bellamy was on loan to Celtic at the time, and 3,000 Celtic supporters voted him "Newcastle Utd Player Of The Season".

The Scottish media milked it, and we had a humourous conversation live on air about it.

Sunday Sun: Enrique left Newcastle acrimoniously last summer with talk of him going to a bigger club. But the move backfired when Newcastle ended the season higher up the Premier League table than Liverpool.

The Twitter interview was naively intentioned as an opportunity for Liverpool fans to put their questions to Enrique, such as: “Do you think the new playing style that Brendan is introducing suits you personally?”

But the well-meaning hashtag proved too good an opportunity to miss for humorous Geordies who, with good nature, enjoyed giving Liverpool fans a taste of their own native wit.

The official Liverpool Football Club event was the perfect opportunity for Magpies supporters to pull out their best Jose Enrique jokes, and #askenrique even began trending as Twitter users enjoyed reading the Newcastle banter.

And with fake Newcastle questions far outweighing genuine Liverpool tweets, one user asked Enrique the question: “How much are you regretting agreeing to this?”
