Bob Moncur: “Panicking will get Newcastle nowhere, it was just an off-night and a game where nothing went right for them.

“Did some people expect them to go until the end of the season without losing a game in one of the toughest divisions out there?

“They were always going to come unstuck somewhere and it was not a great surprise to me it came against a battling team like Derby in their own backyard.

“Newcastle may well not be top any more, but with Forest losing as well it is another game chalked off and at least another two Forest may have to win and Newcastle lose.

“This season is just about getting up and I don’t really care how Newcastle do it.

“That is one of the reasons why I will not be carried away by Derby.

“Newcastle tried almost everything to score but they just could not get through and needed a break which they did not get.

“There have been games when they have played poorly and won, so it will even itself out over the course of a season.

“In a division where everybody has been trying to beat them, the fact they have gone so long without losing is an impressive statistic.”
