The Netherlands are in the midst of a three-game ‘Euro 2012 tune up’ series of international engagements against Bulgaria last Saturday, Slovakia on Wednesday (May 30) and Northern Ireland on Saturday coming.

Tim Krul: “We are definitely one of the favourites.

"We just had a heavy week training in Switzerland.

"It’s a pre-season week everybody’s getting fit, people coming back from injuries and stuff.

"We’ve got three games and this was one of them, got another one on Wednesday and another one on Saturday.

"We’ve got two more games before we have to be on full power.

“The group we’re in is definitely the hardest.

"That shows you that the Euro championship is a tough, tough tournament.

"Some people say it's even more difficult that the World Cup, because we’ve got such a lot of top quality teams, our group is heavy.

"Portugal, Germany and Denmark are all in the FIFA top ten and we are not allowed to underestimate any side.

“I don’t think what went before, Holland's history against Portugal, will have an impact on the Portugal game in June.

“It’s six years past and there’s a whole new squad.

"There will be some players on the park next month who played in the 2006 game but it’s another game, another tournament and I think we’ve got more worries than going after history.

"We need to look after ourselves and we need to be ready for Denmark, our first game.”
