The Northern Ireland teenager put in a magnificent display against the mighty West London Premiership champions, and suddenly EVERY Toon fan knows about the 19-year-old.

Shane Ferguson: “It’s the best experience of my life.

“I only found out on Tuesday I was starting.

“I was just so happy – it’s the best feeling ever.

“For the first Peter (Lovenkrands) made a good run, and I just picked him out. Nile (Ranger) was at the back post at the right time, and put it in the back of the net.

“The second I just won the corner and we scored from it, it was a great feeling.

“I was so nervous.

“The experienced lads were brilliant – it was just a fantastic day.

“This year’s been brilliant, just being involved with the first team and training with them every day’s been a bonus.

“The gaffer has been fantastic.

“Everyone’s so happy.

“We had plenty of chances and could have scored more, but we did the job.

“Shola was fantastic – his workrate and finishing was superb. So was everyone.

“My family weren’t there – they watched the highlights on TV.

“I got all the texts congratulating me after the game.”
