Souey Standing Alone

Graeme Souness insists he suffers as badly as any supporter when Newcastle lose.
"When you win games it's a great feeling. I'm a supporter - I'm as low as a snake's belly when we don't win and when we do win, I'm delighted.
"It has been most interesting, both on the pitch and off the pitch. But I'd like just to be able to concentrate on the football now and I think with the group of players we have got, that will be far easier this year.
"We just have to get our players who are injured now back on to the pitch, and then we have a squad of players that I think can do very well in the Premiership.
"You never stop learning in this game, and I think I have learnt something this year. Maybe it's something I have never analysed, but it has been confirmed to me that when you are a player, some people need a lot of confidence, they need to feel that everything is rosy in their garden, and then there are players who can get by with very little.
"The really top players do not need any extra confidence. They do not need to be winning games, they don't need to be doing clever things in a game. If they make a mistake, it doesn't matter to them.
"It is like water off a duck's back, they just get on with it, want the ball all the time, want to show everyone in the stadium they are the top player out of the 22 on show. They want to show their team-mates how good they are, they never stop wanting the ball."
