The very mention of the word "relegation" has the man come out fighting.

Sir Bobby, who was born in Sacriston, County Durham, is suffering from cancer for the fifth time.

Sir Bobby Robson: "I can't see Newcastle United going down.

"They're having a difficult time at the moment, but there's enough in the team that I've seen that, in my opinion, will make them secure in The Premiership.

"I can't see them getting relegated.

"They're playing now with a bit more spirit and a bit more competitiveness and I'm sure that they'll do well this season."

Many famous faces turned out to support Sir Bobby Robson's cancer charity as it reached the £1m mark last week.

It was the Night of All Knights as Sir Bobby was joined by footballing legends Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Alex Ferguson at the star-studded event.

Alan Shearer: "I'm here to show my support to a great man. He helped me so much in my career so I would do anything I can to support him.

"He's a fighter, so many times now he's come out a winner, he will continue to fight and continue to raise money.''

Sir Alex Ferguson: "His enthusiasm and passion has always captured everyone's hearts.''

Sir Bobby Charlton: "Everybody who's ever met him likes him. He's always got a smile on his face."
