Sammy Lee 'Shellshocked' At Toon Performance

Bolton manager Sammy Lee, who succeeded Sam Allardyce at Bolton, knew it was going to be a tough fixture. And it could be argued there was perhaps more pressure on the Bolton bench than Newcastle's.

Although that easy to say after the event. And if Newcastle had gone in 3-0 down at half-time I'm sure the shoe would have been on the other foot.

Lee was at a loss to explain why his side were outclassed from the kick-off, and suddenly there is a cloud hanging over the Reebok as some wonder what the future holds without their talisman manager.

Lee: "I do not know what went wrong. We did not turn up for the first 45 minutes.

"We wanted to get the ball down and play but we did not do that and it was disappointing.

"But I got a response in the second half. However the over-riding thing was how poor we were early on."
