Saints Deny Beattie Bid Reports

Newspaper reports over the weekend had suggested that The Magpies had lodged an estimated £8million bid for the England international centre-forward but this has been denied by Saints boss Paul Sturrock.

"We have not heard anything at all from Newcastle," he said.

"This has been in the paper so many times that we have nothing more to say on it."
