Roeder Wants Second Opinion

...  he wants a second opinion and will send Terry McDermott to Oslo on a spying mission.

The Norwegians, as expected, secured a trip to St James's Park by completing a comfortable two-legged triumph over Keflavik at the weekend, and Terry Mac will take in Uwe Rosler's side's match against Odd Grenland.

The problem for Roeder is that he has just seen a weakened side, as Rossler has played his cards very close to his chest against the Icelandic part-timers. He knows it will be a full-strength side that visits Newcastle into the Uefa Cup.

Roeder: "Lillestrom were clearly very confident of winning the tie as they left their four best players out in the first leg. Those players sat in front of me in the directors' box that day but Lillestrom have got a league match at home on Wednesday and I'm pretty confident they will be back in the team.

"It's important that we go and have a good look at them. David Mills (United's chief scout) will go back to Norway with Terry McDermott and I will await their reports with interest."
