Roeder: "Bravery Won Us The Game"

Glenn Roeder: "It was certainly a game that had momentum all the way through it.

"We started with it and scored two terrific goals and without a doubt, we were in the driving seat.

"Then we did what we have done too often this year, we conceded a rotten goal, a useless goal to concede at this level.

"There is a saying in professional football, 2-0 can be a dangerous score because if you let one in, then the momentum often flows back to the other team.

"We survived for 15 minutes or so, and that is all we could do, survive.

"No-one could question the team spirit or the bravery of the team in the way we were throwing ourselves in the way of shots and blocking crosses.

"There is credit to be had when they do that. In the second half, there were periods when Villa had nothing to lose and they threw the kitchen sink at us.

"I was delighted to see that third go in. Even I punched the air."
