The former Newcastle boss is out of work, having been sacked by Norwich City last season, but he seems to have little chance of bouncing back to the Championship with the Swans.

Falkirk manager John Hughes has emerged as a surprise candidate to replace Roberto Martinez at Swansea.

Hughes has also been linked with the vacant Aberdeen and Hibernian jobs but could be lured to a club he spent a year with as a player.
