Toon striker Ranger was wanted by Dave Jones earlier this month after a successful loan spell at Hillsborough last season, but he turned down a chance to sign for the Owls on loan.
Loyal to the Geordie cause (or simply sitting on his high paying contract) he says he wants to stay on Tyneside ... which is very convenient for his up coming court cases.
He has now been hit by a knee injury that could rule him out for a month.
