Rafa Benitez has revealed that he simply had a “normal conversation” in his meeting with Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley this week.
The Magpies are currently bottom of the Premier League table and are under pressure to get their first win of the season as they prepare to take on Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday.
Many Newcastle fans have been appalled with how Ashley has run the club during his time at St James’ Park, however Benitez admits that the businessman’s recent decision to attend more matches has impressed him.
“It was a normal conversation. It is good he is coming back to games,” said Benitez in a press conference on Friday.
