Toon fans have once again painted "St James Park" at the home of Newcastle United in graffiti.

Police recieved reports at around 2.50am this morning that fans were at work, and they have appealed for witnesses.

A Northumbria Police spokesman: "Someone damaged the walls of the stadium and enquiries into this incident are ongoing."

This is the third time such an incident has taken place, since Mike Ashley re-named St James' Park in February.

Last month Toon fan Michael Atkinson was ordered to pay £100 compensation and given a conditional discharge after he admitted painting the words St James on the wall.
