Nobby in the dark about Celtic rumours

Last updated : 07 July 2003 By Martyn Elliott

A frustratingly inconsistent season, the signings of Darren Ambrose and Lee Bowyer and comments by Sir Bobby about the winger’s future have led to press speculation about a transfer. But Nobby claims that he has been assured that the club wants him to stay.

"When I went back to Peru in the beginning of the summer I got a call from some friends and they were saying ‘what’s all this about Celtic?’ I haven’t got a clue where these rumours came from," he told OfficialPlayerSites.com.

"I have a very good relationship with my agent – Horacio Lourda - and I can say that we have not been involved in any talks with Celtic or any other club.

"I think that with the signings of Darren Ambrose and Lee Bowyer, many people have decided that it must be that Nolberto Solano is leaving.

"If the club want to sell me than there is little I can do. But I have been told nothing other than that I’m wanted by the club, in fact the Chairman has spoken to my agent and has told him that there are no plans to sell me.

"So as far as I am concerned I am staying."
