Ipswich’s official website have confirmed that the 19-year-old will not be available to try and help the Tractor Boys to promotion, after he signed a five-year deal at St James’ Park.
"It would have been nice to stay here for the rest of the season and try and help the club go up but it has not worked out like that," said Ambrose.
"I’m confident that Ipswich will win promotion though and it would be great to come back here next season in the Premiership.
"I’ve got a lot to thank the people at Ipswich for, everyone has been great to me since I first arrived at ten-years-old.
"The fans have been brilliant to me as well and I have a real soft spot for the club. Ipswich will always be important to me."
Ambrose is currently struggling with a thigh strain, but should have recovered in time to face Everton if selected.
