Newcastle vs Brighton Preview: How to Watch on TV, Live Stream, Kick Off Time & Team News

Newcastle will be looking to make it two wins from two in the Premier League on Sunday when they host Brighton at St. James' Park.

The Magpies got off to the best possible start in their season opener, as goals from Callum Wilson and Jeff Hendrick gave them a 2-0 win over West Ham. Ahead of a difficult run of fixtures in the next few weeks, another three points would cap off the perfect start to the new campaign.

On the other hand, Brighton must recover from opening day defeat on home soil. Despite a spirited performance at the AMEX, Graham Potter's side were beaten 3-1 by Chelsea, as they look to pick themselves up for the long trip up to Tyneside.

Team News

Brighton will hope to have Adam Lallana and Ben White ready for Sunday, after the English duo came off in the defeat to Chelsea. Both returned to training on Friday ahead of the trip up north, but Potter will make late decisions on whether they are available to play this weekend. Florin Andone is still a long-term injury, continuing his recovery from a ruptured cruciate ligament.

Fabian Schär, Martin Dúbravka, Matty Longstaff, Paul Dummett and Dwight Gayle remain sidelined for Newcastle, as they look to return from injury as soon as possible. The Magpies will have Allan Saint-Maximin at their disposal after he was taken off with 15 minutes to go last week.

Predicted Lineups

Newcastle: Darlow; Manquillo, Lascelles, Fernández, Lewis; Hendrick, Shelvey, Hayden, Saint-Maximin; Wilson, Joelinton.

Brighton: Ryan; Burn, Dunk, Webster; Lamptey, Connolly, Bissouma, Groß, March; Maupay, Trossard.

Recent Form

After kicking off the Premier League season with a win at London Stadium, Newcastle made it back to back wins in midweek in the Carabao Cup. Ryan Fraser's first goal in black and white gave the Magpies a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers, as they earned a third round tie with League Two outfit Morecambe.

Unbeaten and no goals conceded, the Magpies have started the new campaign in impressive fashion. While there are tougher tests ahead with trips to Tottenham and Wolves, Bruce will be pleased with his side's start.

Brighton put in a decent display on matchday one, but it was not enough to keep Chelsea out on Monday. Jorginho, Reece James and Kurt Zouma handed the visitors all three points, with Leandro Trossard's strike the highlight of the game for the hosts.

The Seagulls did recover in the Carabao Cup midweek, easily dispatching Portsmouth in a south coast battle. Potter's men cruised into the next round with a 4-0 victory, thanks to goals from Alexis Mac Allister, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Bernardo and Viktor Gyökeres.

Two goalless draws last season tells you all you need to know about this clash. Their last five encounters have not seen more than two goals, with the Magpies failing to win a single one of them.

Newcastle have the upper hand in form, but Brighton cannot be underestimated despite the opening day loss. It will surely be another tight affair on Tyneside with little to call between the two, so it would be no surprise to see another stalemate between the two.

Prediction: Newcastle 1-1 Brighton
