Zurab Khizanishvili: "In England, everybody says it's bad luck, but for me, it doesn't matter. When I play, it doesn't matter for me.

"It's absolutely no problem – in my country it doesn't count as bad luck. Somebody said No7 is good luck in England, and No13 is not. I hope I can bring some good luck to the team."

Steve Harper is only Newcastle player ever to wear the No 13 as a squad number, and the introduction of two substitutes back in the 1990's had the subs wearing number 12 and 14.

Harper claimed it was bad luck, as he tried (and failed) to take over from Shay Given between the posts. But later put it behind him (pardon the pun) and wore 13 the next season.

* The number 13 is traditionally thought of as bad luck because it is the 'Death' card in the tarot deck.
