The Spanish international was a £5.8million signing from Mallorca in 1999 and having made just 22 appearances he is undoubtedly the biggest waste of money in English football history.
He presumably has another club lined up, but a club spokesman said: "Marcelino has left the club today by mutual agreement and we wish him all the best."
