JJ England hint

Grip told the Evening Chronicle: "I just went to Rotterdam to see some English players but Newcastle do not have that many.

"But those that you do have are very good. We have seen Dyer play during and after the World Cup but he hasn't been really fit enough.

"However, on Wednesday night that was the best I have seen him for a long time. And I like Jenas as well. I think he will be a great player.

"He plays on the right side of midfield and that's not his normal position but he still played well because he is such a talented player and probably can be used anywhere in midfield."

Anywhere in midfield? Is JJ being groomed for the dreaded left midfield position?

The idea of JJ making the England squad is not that far fetched, after all he has more than held his own against the likes of Juventus, Arsenal and Feyenoord in recent weeks.

While Beckham and Scholes and a fully fit Dyer and Gerrard are certainties in the national squad, JJ is certainly already as good as the likes of Frank Lampard, Trevor Sinclair, Danny Murphy and David Thompson.

Give him a run against the Aussies Sven!
