Jenas wants centre stage

The England Under-21 star has been playing on the right of midfield since Kieron Dyer returned to full fitness, but has made it clear that he views his best position as central midfield.

Jenas is far from unhappy though, as he explained to the Journal.

"I'm definitely a central midfielder, although I do feel comfortable out on the wing.

"I played in a wide position as a youngster and I've played there for England at different levels.

"But at this stage of my career I already see myself as a central midfielder. I am only young, and it's good to be versatile, but I don't see my long-term future elsewhere.

"I've been playing out of position and I quite enjoyed it out in Rotterdam. In the first half at Feyenoord a lot came my way and that's what I needed to settle into an unfamiliar role.

"You're set new tasks in a new position but I've never really been the kind of player who runs by opponents unless I'm breaking through from a central position. The last two games have been a new experience for me but on the whole I've enjoyed it."
