Alan Pardew: “I’ve been really impressed with him.
“He understands the work ethic you need in the Premier League.
“He’ll definitely play against Everton, and hopefully, he’ll continue in that vein.
“He came in and hadn’t played for seven months, and then got injured.
“He never really featured – only a couple of cameos – and this year he was injured again.
“But his body’s getting stronger all the time.
“He was looking at Premier League games, and having little tastes of it. He’s getting experience of it.
“Suddenly, he’s blossomed in these last two games in particular – three, you could argue, if you include the QPR game.
“I said when we lost Cabaye we’d look to players like Sylvain and Hatem.
“We lost Hatem almost immediately, and he’s answered that call.”
