The maverick forward has excelled at Ligue 1 side Nice this season - scoring seven times in 10 matches to make him the second-highest goalscorer in France's top division.

This campaign is in stark contrast to the 28-year-old's fortunes last term where he spent most of it out of action due to technicalities regarding the number of clubs he had represented in a season.

Nice forward Hatem Ben Arfa could be recalled to the France next month, revealed boss Didier Deschamps

The 28-year-old has been in stunning form with side Nice this season - scoring seven goals in 10 league games

After an unsuccessful loan spell at Hull, Ben Arfa returned to Newcastle where his contract was terminated. FIFA subsequently blocked any potential move to Nice due to the fact he had already played for two clubs.

And Ben Arfa's impressive attempt to make up on lost time with Nice, hasn't gone unnoticed by Deschamps.

'I did not say no,' he told Eurosport when asked about the possibilities of a recall for Ben Arfa.

'Why not? My reflection on the issue will come next week based on what he has done with Nice.'

Ben Arfa won the last of his 13 France caps at Euro 2012.

If Ben Arfa does earn a call-up for France, it would signal a change in the dynamic of his fractious relationship with Deschamps.

Under the 47-year-old's tenure at Marseille, Ben Arfa forced through his move to Newcastle in 2010 by refusing to play for L'OM again while he was coach.

But despite their past, Deschamps insists the Nice No 9 will be selected for his country if his form merits it.

'There are players who are there [in the squad] and who give me satisfaction,' he added.

'To recall a new player, I have to remove one. I will not accumulate players. These are decisions that will be made with a view to the competition.

'If someone can bring something to the France team, it doesn't matter that they had a problem with me.'
