The Marseille striker has been linked with Manchester City, Tottenham, Portsmouth, Blackburn and Wigan Athletic. And Keegan tried to sign him when he was Man City boss.

The 26-year-old, who has made 37 appearances with the French national team, said he'd like to return because of family reasons.

Cisse: "It's my wish now to be back in England. I had a good time in Marseille, but I really want to come back.

"My wife is from Wales and my family is here, but the main thing is the league.

"I think I am more of an English football type, I think it suits me better. I think if you are quick and strong - physically and mentally - you can do something in England.

"And I want to prove to everybody that I am a good player and I can do good things."
