The Chronicle report: People living around the ground have complained for years about problems.

There is a car park at St James's Park and efforts have been made to persuade fans to travel by bus or Metro.

The problems got worse when the stadium was redeveloped in 2000 and now the club and the council have come up with proposals to improve match day travel.

Harvey Emms, director of strategic housing, planning and transportation: "NUFC are committed to ensuring supporters' travel to matches is managed.

Coun Nick Forbes: "We've had huge problems with parking around St James's Park for years."

A council meeting is being held this week and then they expect to announce new plans.
