Come On Beardsley - Sniff The Glove!

Last updated : 19 March 2009 By Footy Mad - Editor

I have NEVER known one interview when he has said anything remotely controversial ... and let's not forget he has been part of the Newcastle United set up since 1983 when he signed from Vancover Whitecaps.

He has backed every manager in recent years, from Dalglish to Kinnear, insisting each and every one should have "more time" ... but backed the man to replace them as "a great choice".

The man is too nice for his own good.

We are facing the biggest crisis in twenty years, with a managerial set up that is nothing short of a JOKE and an owner who spews forth lies and utter bollox everytime he opens his mouth!

And I could not believe my eyes when I read this morning that Pedro says Magpies fans "feel sorry" for owner Mike Ashley and we are "in good hands with Dennis Wise"!

Beardsley: "It hasn't been ideal for Mike, he's taken a lot of stick - unfairly in my opinion.

"But a lot of the fans I speak to now feel sorry for him.

"Because he came in with the right intentions, it didn't work out, but I think the fans realise that with people like Dennis Wise and Derek Lambias the club is in good hands and there are reasons to be optimistic about the future."

"To be fair to Mike, if the worst came to the worst I think he'd stay here and be a part of putting things right.

"If we did go down there's no reason we should lose anybody so we would have strong squad to bounce back but I don't think that we'll go down.

"I don't think they're in such as bad a state as everybody says, I'm biased because its my team. When you look at it we probably have to win three games and I think they're more than capable of doing that.

"We've always done okay against Arsenal and Chelsea at home in the past and with all due respect to Stoke, we'd expect to go there and get at least a point.

"All the fans demand is that people give their maximum and I think Mike Ashley is doing everything he can to put the club right. Not everything is perfect - he knows that, he's not stupid - but it's going in the right direction.
He doesn't want us in the Championship - when you've put the money in that he has you want Newcastle to be in the Premier League.

"If at the end of the day he ends up making a bit of money I don't have a problem with that as long as the club are where we want them to be.
Businesses is business, fans understand that and it was the same under Freddie Shepherd or Sir John - that's life!

"Fans know that Mike is here with the right intentions, they may not have thought that earlier in the season. But if you look at the facts and figures he's put a few quid into the club.

"I am entitled to my opinion.

"The fans know where I'm coming from - they know this has been my club, all of my life. If in five to ten years' time Mike Ashley's not here I will still be a Newcastle fan. I'm lucky, I've had conversations with Mike Ashley so I know how positive he is towards the future.

"We all know it hinges on the first team being successful, but if they survive I don't see us being in a relegation battle ever again while Mike Ashley is at the club. I don't see us ever being in this situation again."

Peter, we at NewcastleUtd-Mad loved every minute you played for the Toon, but when you say we are in "good hands" with Wise and Ashley and their bunch of puppets ... put it this way ... we wish you were out there on the pitch at St James' Park PLAYING for the Toon, rather than talking about them.
