The former Leeds United midfielder has been sidelined since the end of November with a hip problem, but if he comes through the FA Premier reserve clash he could be back in the squad for Saturday’s game with Leicester City.
Also getting a run out for the reserves will be Craig Bellamy, Shola Ameobi and Hugo Viana.
The game was scheduled to take place at Chester City’s Deva Stadium, but with the pitch there waterlogged has been moved to Liverpool’s Academy base with a 7pm kick-off. The Reds’ official website also warns that the clash is all ticket.
