"There has been no progress on my contract, nothing at all," commented the 24 year-old left-back. "It's not just been the last couple of weeks of the last few months, this has been dragging on for a year now.

"By next June at the very latest, I've got to find another club. If I can sign for another team in January, then I probably will. Newcastle have just kept me waiting with an actual offer.

"I'm not really rushing to sign it anyway. If it comes down to me staying at Newcastle, then I'll be very happy, but if I have to leave, then so be it.

"I've done it once and I'll do it again."

The Frenchman's revelations will put even more pressure on chairman Freddie Shepherd, who faces showdown talks with manager Sir Bobby Robson over a new contract.

"I'm not going into this season thinking it will be my last as a football manager,", explained the veteran manager.

Personally, I'd rather see how Robson does this year before deciding anything. Voice your opinions on the messageboard.
