And we all know Keegan is set for talks with Shearer at the end of the week, to offer him some sort of role at the club.
But the new Magpies boss will face competition from Manchester United, according to reports in the Mail on Sunday.
But that may not be a stumbling block, as Berbatov was a Toon fan during the heady days when Keegan's Entertainers battled against Man Utd for the Premiership title back in 1996.
