Barton Set To Become Geordie Legend

The Geordies love nothing more than a player who is willing to go through the pain barrier during the course of a game, and I feel the union of Barton and the Toon Army could be made in heaven.

Newcastle fans have had to suffer the heartless cowards such as Fereday, Pistone, Andersson, Maric, and Marcelino. Players always willing to skip a step towards a 50-50 tackle. Barton is the type of player who is never frightened to get hurt, and the 24-year-old has the stage to become a legend.

Barton's agent, Willie McKay, was on Tyneside this afternoon to open negotiations over a proposed £5.5m move to St James' Park.

The Magpies are hoping to tie up a deal swiftly with big-spending West Ham having also registered their interest in the player.
