AZ Alkmaar Set Asking Price for Dutch Sensation Myron Boadu Amid Newcastle Interest

​Newcastle United may have to pay as much as £18m for AZ Alkmaar's teenage sensation Myron Boadu this summer, as Steve Bruce looks to add reinforcements to his attack at St. James' Park. 

Boadu is hardly a household name (yet) but is tipped as ​one to watch for the Netherlands at the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament in the summer after scoring 14 goals and assisting a further eight in just 24 league appearances this season for AZ Alkmaar.

The 19-year-old is the joint-third top scorer in the Eredivisie and he has netted four goals while assisting two more in the Europa League in 2019/20. No surprise then that various clubs are sniffing about.

As previously reported by ​90min, Newcastle have been keeping tabs on the Dutchman for a while as he's continued his fine form in the Netherlands. 

As well as the Magpies, Arsenal have also looked into the availability of the youngster in the past. However, it is Newcastle who are most eager to fight off competition for the young sensation, after their scouts were impressed by his capabilities.

Dutch outlet Voetbal4U now reports that AZ Alkmaar have set an asking price of £18m for their star forward.

In the current market, that fee - less than half the cost of Joelinton - could be a bargain for a player with such potential. And with the Euros waiting around the corner, his value could increase even further. 

Meanwhile, reports that summer signing Allan Saint-Maximin has been unsettled on Tyneside have been hushed - for now at least - as it has been revealed by ​The Athletic that the winger is happy at ​Newcastle and is disinterested at leaving the club unless they are involved in 'regular relegation battles'.

It was rumoured that the 22-year-old had a fall out with manager Steve Bruce last week but these murmurs have been overruled by two fantastic performances against West Brom and Southampton.
