Apologies, Postponements and World Cups

Nikos Dabizas has apologised to Sir Bobby, the players and the fans for his red card at Blackburn, but he described the hand ball as instinctive.

Leaving his team to play for 86 minutes a man down was pretty stupid, especially as Dunn scoring the penalty meant we got no advantage from the offence, so an apology was in order.

But Nikos is a player who always gives 100 per cent and looks like he cares as much as the fans, so we can forgive him the odd misjudgement. And he scored the winner against the Mackems last season.

Last night's reserve game against Bedlington Terriers in the Northumberland Senior Cup was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. No news on when the game will be played yet.

St James' Park will be used by the RFU to stage games in the 2007 Rugby World Cup, should the English bid beat off the challenge of France.

The Evening Chronicle has reported that Kieron Dyer will be fit to face Juventus on Wednesday. Good news if its right.
