Anita In Talks - What Now For Tioté And Cabaye?

Although Pardew says bringing in a new midfielder does not spell the end for Cheick Tioté or Yohan Cabaye ... although both are getting interest from Man Utd and Chelsea.

Although one source claimed discussions are still at a “preliminary” stage, and reports claiming a deal is close to completion have jumped the gun ... the Dutch star is "very keen" on a move to Tyneside.

Although he is currently being used as a defender at Ajax, his prefered position is the holding midfield role - currently taken by Tioté.

However, it is understood he could fill the left-back role rather than Tioté’s central midfield slot.

At 23 and as part of the Dutch international set-up, he could be a great buy.

Derek Llambias made it clear that Newcastle would listen to offers in the region of £20million for Tioté.

Tioté’s French-speaking agent was in contact with Newcastle at the beginning of last week but the player’s future was not at the forefront of discussions.

Although Newcastle have Davide Santon at left-back, concerns have been expressed that he wants to leave St James’ Park and return to Italy.

AS Roma, who have benefited from a massive cash injection courtesy of new American owners, were linked with a move for the defender earlier this month.
