During his last spell in charge at Southampton Hoddle told Beattie that he would never make it as a top-flight player and agreed to sell him to Crystal Palace.
Hoddle then defected to his beloved Tottenham and Beattie has since proved him wrong.
However, having failed miserably at White Hart Lane the former England boss is apparently being lined up to take charge of Saints again in the summer and the Sunday Mirror claims that Beattie is as unhappy about the idea as the club’s fans.
It seems to me that the report relies on a lot of rumours all coming true and ignores the fact that the striker cannot get into the Southampton team at the moment.
