Eddie Howe has officially left his head coach position as manager of Newcastle United following a five-year tenure at St James Park.
The 48-year-old took charge of the Magpies in November 2021, guiding them to Champions League qualification twice and lifting the League Cup in March 2025 to secure the club first major domestic silverware since 1969.
However, he faced mounting pressure during the previous top flight campaign as Newcastle finished in a disappointing 12th place, suffering 17 defeats across their 38 league matches.
The club has lost influential playmaker Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur and England forward Anthony Gordon to Barcelona so far this transfer window. Speculation also continues to surround the immediate future of club captain Bruno Guimaraes.
Newcastle senior executives expressed sincere gratitude to Howe for his incredible service and leadership, confirming that a comprehensive search for a new head coach is already underway ahead of the new season which begins in August.
