Woodgate latest

Middlesbrough are reported to have made a £4million bid for Leeds’ England midfielder Seth Johnson, and if that deal is completed it will mean that the Elland Road club’s financial problems are eased.

Terry Venables has previously claimed that Woodgate, Harry Kewell and Alan Smith are not for sale at any price, but he is prepared to offload Johnson if it helps the club’s finacial situation.

Meanwhile Rangers captain Barry Ferguson is the latest player to be linked with a move to St James’ Park.

A combative midfielder in the Roy Keane mould, Ferguson could certainly add a new dimension to the squad, but Alex McLeish is unlikely to want to part with his most valuable asset.
