First up is long-term target Javier de Pedro of Spain and Real Sociedad, about who Sir Bobby said: "It is true I like him very much but he does not want to leave Real Sociedad.

"But he is one of the players I have on my list to look at over the summer."

Next up is Barcelona’s Brazilian midfielder Thiago Motta.

"I love the way Thiago Motta plays. He can play in several positions, is a very good passer of the ball, has a great left foot and is very fast," claimed Sir Bobby.

Finally is Benfica winger Simao, about who Sir Bobby is reported to have said: "The only way we will know ourselves if Simao can impress in England is if a club buys him and hands him a chance.

"I have already watched him in two games this season and I discovered that he is better than anyone at that age.

"But I am not going to discuss our business in public. Any business that we do is a matter for the club and the company, and not for the press."

Also linked with a move to St James’ Park this week is China international midfielder Li Tie, with the Daily Express claiming that Everton are set to pull out of a £1.5million deal to sign him on a permanent basis.

Meanwhile Marseille defender Daniel van Buyten, who Sir Bobby was keen to sign in January, is reported to be in talks with Juventus.
