Sir Bobby’s Portuguese transfer frenzy!

With Ricardo Quaresma and Cristiano Ronaldo already on Sir Bobby’s supposed transfer-target list, he was reportedly watching their impressive Portugal Under-21 colleague Jose Bosingwa.

And if that wasn’t enough we’re apparaently planning a £10million bid for Benfica and Portugal winger Simao who was in excellent form in the friendly victory over Brazil on Saturday, despite being a flop in Primera Liga with Barcelona.

I’m not convinced that we actually need any of those players, but on the evidence of Friday’s Under-21 game we couldn’t go too far wrong with Quaresma.

Meanwhile Ipswich’s teenage striker Darren Bent has claimed that he turned down the chance to move to St James’ Park alongside Darren Ambrose because he didn’t think he’d get in the team.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is reported to have put Nikos Dabizas at the top of his summer shopping list, while Dave Jones is supposedly prepared to bid £2million to take Carl Cort to Wolves.

Of course no week would be complete without a Craig Bellamy moving to Manchester United story, with the price now having climbed to a staggering £25million.

Whether Bellamy would get in the team once the Old Trafford outfit had also completed the signing of their other reported targets Ronaldo, Nihat and Jermain Defoe is open to question.
