A number of press reports earlier in the week suggested that Sir Bobby is keen to bring the Northallerton born defender to St James’ Park, but if that is true he is yet to act.

When quizzed about possible signings and departures at the City Ground, Forest chief executive Mark Arthur said: "We have not had any bids and we have not made any bids. I don't know if we will make any.

'"We have had no interest for those players we would wish to move on or those we would wish to keep. I think that's a nationwide trend. There's very, very little movement."

Two other players reportedly not on their way to St James’ Park are Sporting Lisbon youngsters Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricardo Quaresma, who according to the latest rumours will amazingly turn down ourselves, Juventus, Man United and AC Milan to sign for Charlton.
