Yohan Cabaye is in talks with Crystal Palace over a new contract, but don't rule out a move if Palace are relegated.
The Frenchman, 32, is a free agent this summer ... and I ask you ... would you like to see him back at Newcastle?
Cabaye and his representatives are in negotiations with Palace's sporting director Dougie Freedman.
When asked today at his pre-match press conference, Roy Hodgson admitted he's happy with Cabaye and would welcome an extended stay in south London.
"That's something you'll have to ask Doug Freedman about," said the boss.
"He's talking to both Yohan and his agent; Yohan knows how I feel about him, that we appreciate him, so it's nice to have him back from the injury that kept him out for just over two weeks.
"That's something I don't involve myself too much in.
"As far as I'm concerned, Yohan's out every day training and doing the things we want him to do, so I don't spend my time questioning him 'how's it going?', I just work on the basis that a sensible conversation's going on between Yohan and what he wants to do going forward, and what the club works to do."
Asked whether Hodgson gets the impression Cabaye does want to remain at Palace, the manager was upbeat.
"Certainly if you watch him play and train, I certainly don't get any vibes he's not 100 per cent committed and anything other than happy," he said.
"I'm really more than happy with that. Sometimes as a coach or a manager who is also a coach, you can complicate things too much.
"I don't want my relationship with Yohan to be in any way changed by the fact there's some contract discussions going on.
"He knows that I'm having to leave that to him; I trust him to do what needs to be done, I trust Doug Freedman to do that, which enables he and I to have a player-coach relationship that's untainted by anything that might be going on elsewhere."
