Wonder Kid Wants Goals

Steve Taylor scored twice for England Under-21s in their 4-1 win over Poland on Tuesday and has now managed three goals for them this season. Perhaps the Toon fans would be happy enough if the youngster did his job at the back, but he insists it won't be long before he opens his account for the Magpies.
44 appearances for the Toon, no goals, but he is hoping to put that right against Wigan Athletic at the JJB Stadium on Saturday.
Steve Taylor: "It was an unbelievable feeling for me to get two goals for England. I was happy with the goal against Germany (Under-21s) a few weeks ago but to get two in the same game was fantastic. I think the last time I scored twice in one game I was playing for England Under-17s against Slovakia. It was a good night, not just for me personally but for the whole team. That was our best display for a while. Now all I want to do is break my duck for Newcastle - and I think I'm due one now!
"Wigan will be a tough game. They have had a decent start to the season. Nobody gave them a chance when they were promoted so they are playing without any pressure and proving people wrong. A couple of their lads are with the (England) Under-21s - Ryan Taylor and Leighton Baines - and they seem to be really enjoying it."
"It can be hard when you come back from international duty because you have had a few days away with a different coach and different training sessions, but you have to get quickly into the swing of things with your club."
